Home MenuTree Maintenance & Information
Richland Energy Services has been named a "Tree Line USA Utility" every year since 2004 in recognition of our national leadership in caring for trees while meeting service objectives. Our utility has met Tree Line USA requirements of training our workers in quality tree-care practices and helping our customers plant appropriate trees near utility lines. This effort results in long-term operational savings for our utility as well as providing beautiful trees for the future.
If you see tree branches or other items touching power lines, call Power Operations at 509-942-7429, contact us by email, or submit an online service request.
Do you have a tree that needs to be replaced? Richland’s Tree Replacement Program offers discount certificates to residents who have qualifying trees that are growing into power lines and need to be removed. A certified arborist will review the suspect tree with the homeowner. If the tree qualifies, the city will schedule the tree for removal and remove the tree, then a certificate to a local nursery, ranging in value from $40 to $120, is presented to the homeowner to offset the cost of a new “power-line friendly” replacement tree.
