Councilmember
Shayne VanDyke is a long-term Richland resident appointed to the City Council in July 2022, with his term expiring in December 2023. He and his wife have lived in Richland for almost 20 years, raising all four of their children here – two of whom have graduated from Richland High School and moved on to college.
Shayne is a project and cybersecurity program manager at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), where he has worked since 2011. During that time, he completed a year-long assignment in Washington, D.C., collaborating with federal employees at the National Nuclear Security Agency. He also coordinated with the International Atomic Energy Agency in areas including training, regulations and cybersecurity. Prior to his work at PNNL, Shayne worked as the contract manager for a local engineering subcontractor and as a contract, supply chain and process improvement manager at Hanford’s Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant.
Shayne earned his MBA from Washington State University in 2007 and a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 2001, majoring in Business Management and minoring in Political Science. He has enjoyed serving his community through the Boy Scouts of America, Junior Achievement and coaching youth sports.
When not at work or serving his community, Shayne enjoys spending time with his family exploring new places, camping, hiking and spending time on the water.
