We are pleased to report that we have been able to restore our on-line systems. Citizens should be able to utilize most services and make utility payments as normal. The building and permitting software upgrades are still in process and anticipated to be operational by Monday, June 3rd.
Our investigation remains ongoing at this time. If we determine that individuals’ protected information was impacted by the previously described data security event, we will provide direct notifications as required by law.

As communicated previously, the City of Richland recently identified a potential data security event related to some of our systems. We are investigating this potential event with the assistance of third-party specialists, and out of an abundance of caution, will be taking certain systems offline for a limited time to further enhance our network security. We wanted to let you know as during this period, you may not have access to certain systems. We will provide an additional update when the referenced systems are back online, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We want to inform you that we have confirmed that there has been a data security event affecting our servers and systems. This event has potentially compromised personal information of our citizens. The privacy and security of our citizens are of utmost importance to us, and we are taking immediate action to address this situation.
While we are still investigating the full extent of the event, the City has engaged a cyber security consultant to assist with a comprehensive assessment.
